We Now Offer Covid-19 PCR Testing for Asymptomatic Individuals and International Travellers

PCR stands for “polymerase chain reaction” and is a molecular test that helps determine if you have COVID-19. It is the preferred test by most countries due to the high level of accuracy. If you have COVID-19 at the time of your appointment, the PCR test will detect the presence of the virus. Please note that your results will not show if you were infected in the past but will only confirm a current COVID-19 infection.

After your appointment, we send the swab for testing to an accredited lab.  For Regular PCR Test, you can expect to receive your results within 48, but may take up to 72 hours.  For Rush PCR Test, test results are usually available within 24 hours. We will also provide you with documentation of proof for travel.

We use a shallow nasal swab to ensure that you feel minimal discomfort during the COVID-19 test procedure. If you have any concerns before or during your appointment, you are welcome to ask the VoyageVax healthcare professional any questions you may have.

VoyageVax cannot verify or establish the timing or type of test your airline or destination requires. The regulations for travel change often, and each location has its own set of rules. As the traveller, it is your responsibility to confirm your destination’s regulations surrounding COVID-19 testing. Regular (48 hours) PCR test costs $179 plus tax and Rush (24 hours) PCR COVID-19 Test costs $349 plus tax ($299 plus tax for groups of 2 or more).  PCR COVID-19 tests for travel purposes are not covered by MSP, however, if you have private insurance, we recommend contacting your provider to determine if they will cover the cost. If you need a receipt for reimbursement, we can provide one upon request.

There are four ways to pay for your test: cash, Visa, debit and MasterCard. We ask that you pay for your test when you show up for your scheduled appointment.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, BC Medical Services Plan (MSP) will cover the cost of your test. However, MSP will not cover tests if you are asymptomatic and wish to travel or get a test for other reasons. Additionally, Public Health will not conduct the test under these circumstances. Every individual needs their own appointment slot. If you’re scheduling for a family or group, please make sure to book consecutive appointments if they are available. Each appointment should take approximately 15-30 minutes for the entire process.

We will send you a confirmation email containing a link to the intake form after scheduling an appointment. Be sure to fill out the form completely and email it to us before your appointment. You can find our contact details in the confirmation email. Please fill out the online COVID-19 screening questionnaire 24 hours before your appointment to ensure everyone’s safety.

You will need a piece of photo ID for us to verify your identity. We recommend bringing your passport to ensure that the name registered in our system matches what is on your passport.

When you show up for your appointment, please notify one of our team members that you are there for your scheduled PCR COVID-19 test. You may be requested to wait for a few minutes while the healthcare professional prepares your test. During this time, we ask that you provide payment upfront. Before we do the swab, our healthcare professional will explain the COVID-19 test procedure to you, and they will answer any questions you may have. The swab duration is less than a minute, and you can expect the entire appointment process to take around 15-30 minutes.

We don’t charge a fee for changes or cancellations to your scheduled PCR COVID-19 test. However, if you need to change or cancel your appointment, we request that you do so as soon as possible so that someone else can take your slot. You can cancel or reschedule by contacting us by phone or email.
